Paul having firmly established that every person is under the law and that God will not find any innocent by the law, we've reached the solution which God has provided. The Righteousness we need to be saved not found in the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ.

God Transforms Sorrow Into Joy, John 16:16-33

Towards the end of the upper room discourse Jesus addresses the sorrow that His disciples will have in His absense.  God never promised that he would 'replace' our sorrow with joy, but that he would 'transform' our sorrow into joy.  What a beautiful promise, what a beautiful Savior.
