Exposing Hypocrisy, Romans Series 2:17-24

In this passage we learn the characteristics and the consequences of hypocrisy.  A subtle and serious temptation of all God's elect but more acute in the life of a Preacher or Teacher of the Gospel.  Let us examine ourselves and ask God to purge it if found.

Sanctify God In Your Hearts, 1 Peter 3:12-18

Sanctifying God in our hearts is to enshrine Him in our hearts.  When we love Him with all our hearts, souls and mind, the overflowing hope and faith in God we have is visible in the eyes of others.  How do people see us react to suffering, persecution or distress?

Outside or Inside Law - There is no Difference, Romans Series 2:12-16

The Jews believing they were possessors of the law, did not feel they were in danger from breaking it. However, they are not the only possessors of the law. The Gentiles which did not have the law given from Mt Sinai, have an inner law given by God.

Reaction: The Persecuted Church, Part 3, Acts Series 4:1-31

We as God's people are to be submissive and obey governmental law unless it contradicts God's law. When confronted with this challenge, we do not make purposeful efforts of a defiant show of it, but giving God glory in all we do, we pray God's blessings of boldness to stand.  This is what we see demonstrated by His early church and recorded through history, despite what cost it may have brought.  

God’s Judgment of Your Works, Romans Series 2:6-11

God's judgment of our works is according to truth.  Perfect righteousness before God in Justification brings good works in the life of the believer by the fruits of the Spirit.  Paul is attempting to convice the Jews of this point that in of ourselves, we will not bear good works before God and therefore will be judged by God unrighteous, whether it's a Jew or Gentile.

”Joy”, Philippians 1

Rich Joy in the lives of God's people is both ready and available by God's grace.  Given Paul's situation writing this beautiful letter to the Philippian churches - we see a formula for authentic Joy even if in the gravest of circumstances.

”Head of the Corner - The Persecuted Church, Part 2”, Acts Series 4:1-31

Just as Jesus charged the Jewish leaders for being the 'builders' from Psalm 118, who rejected the Stone, the same Stone who God has made the head of the corner, so has Peter in his reply to the council.  We continue to examine these 31 verses in Acts 4 and gain instruction of how, as God's people, we are to respond to persecution and bogus imprisonment declaring the gospel of Jesus Christ.  

Forbearance Leads To Repentance - Not Permission, Rom Series 2:4-5

As Paul finishes Chapter 1 and begins Chapter 2, he tells the Jews, that God's judgments are according to truth.  If we are guilty of the very same sin we condemn in others and not worried about the wrath and judgement of God upon us for the same sin, then we must think very little of the longsuffering God is showing us.  This time of allowance (not permission) is to lead us to repentance, not self-deception.
