Acts 11 teaches us many practical lessons from, accepting those who the Lord has saved, encouraging each other in the faith to 'cleave' unto the Lord, the witness of the power of God in salvation and the humility of receiving help when needed. The Jews in receiving the Gentiles into the Gospel fellowship, we're taught by God all of these lessons by re-asserting, do not call what God has cleansed unclean. What a pivotal point in Christian history, that the family of God includes all nations (as promised to Abraham that all nations would be blessed). We see God send Peter who is lock, stock and barrel Jewish to Cornelius who is a roman empire Gentile, to present the gospel and God save them. God validates His mercy to the Gentiles with the gift of the Holy Spirit.
