What an amazing effect of giving! When we give, we promote thanksgiving to those who receive; Our faith is increased, their thankfulness is created, God is glorified in both. This is a 'gift' that Paul tells the church to abound in among their other gifts. He even goes further to call the ministering to the Saints an experiment to bring glory to God. May we not neglect this awesome gift God has given each of us the ability to use.

In this portion of scripture we see an example of how important personal ministry is. Not everyone is called to preach to groups of people, but those who are believer's can and should witness with their lifestyle and even be ready to open Scriptures to lead someone to Christ. God is sovereign in saving His own and will prepare the hearts to receive it and His messengers to deliver it. How wonderful it would be that God uses us to witness to someone God has prepared, just as we see here with Philip and the Eunuch.

There are signs that may be occurring in your life that your profession of faith in Christ was not genuine. This is a matter of high importance to examine yourself, examine your fruits and what you love in your life. Simon Magis is someone who professed Christ, was baptized and had the marks of a believer from appearance, but lacked the change in his heart. Until Peter confronted him with the stark truth that his heart was not right with God and to repent asking God to forgive him, truly, with his heart, Simon did not realized it. Outward professions, baptisms and even going through all the motions of Christianity is not salvation. Salvation is from the heart in humble repentance and faith in Christ as both Lord and Savior.

In Acts 8, we see the flood gates of persecution open upon the Lord's church. In light of the undercurrent of hate to God's people, there is an important amendment in Kentucky that voters will see on Nov 8th, dealing with abortion. This is one way God's people can let their voice be known while we still have the freedom to vote. The results and any laws of restriction on religious freedom to come should not scare or worry God's people. God is on His throne and our Lord's command still stands, to preach the Glorious Gospel of Peace to all mankind.

Our 2nd look at Genesis we take each verse in chapter 1. The thread of thought is God created earth for mankind to inhabit, while God continues to control and preserve creation by His power. This does not mean that the existence of 2nd laws do not exist, but that God uses the laws of nature He created to govern the order and predictions we observe in creation.
