What mankind is resolved to speculate on the topics of sin, sorrow and death, the Bible states clearly and with certainty. With the Word of God we have answers with certainty and assurance of salvation with certainty. What a glorious gift of God through Christ!

The Lord has His kind of church and His kind of church follows the Word of God and the leadership of the Holy Spirit as their sole source of faith and practice.  We learn from context what are historical church events in light of God's purposes that are not meant to repeat today and which principles and guidelines we do repeat today.

Paul having firmly established that every person is under the law and that God will not find any innocent by the law, we've reached the solution which God has provided. The Righteousness we need to be saved not found in the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ.

Towards the end of the upper room discourse Jesus addresses the sorrow that His disciples will have in His absense.  God never promised that he would 'replace' our sorrow with joy, but that he would 'transform' our sorrow into joy.  What a beautiful promise, what a beautiful Savior.

One of the many of God's glorious Truths that reach beyond our ability to fully comprehend; The suffering of Jesus and the reason He suffered is one of those Truth's that we receive, understand and marvel of Christ's eternal Love and Grace for His Sheep - but impossible for us to know the full depths of suffering Christ endured so that He may 'Bring Us To God'

The climatic point from the previous two chapters comes to a great truth, no one stands righteous and accepted before God in their natural state.  From the 'best' to the 'worst' of people on earth, all stand guilty before God. There will be no sufficient rebuttal that we can muster before God's judgement seat after we die (all mouths will be stopped and the whole world guilty before God).  A dire reality - which makes the gift of God in Salvation through Christ, the more necessary to live.

So far we have seen how the Holy Spirit brings the Lord's church into unity. However, in Chapter 5, we see that unity can be disrupted either through Satan's subtle attacks on members or allowing ourselves to be tempted and execute the sin of pride. This sin does not go unnoticed by God which He used Ananias and Sapphira to teach them and us today this very important lesson. May God help us to seek everyday, His Glory first in our lives and in the church.

An allegory is a metaphor in a story.  We see a beautiful allegory in the condition of Mephibosheth and the Grace and restoration given to him by King David, because he remembered his covenant with Jonathan.

If there is no difference between Jew and Gentile in the manner of needed righteousness and provided righteousness by God through faith in Christ, then, multiple objections may surface that Paul addresses one at a time.  One objection is, what advantage is it to be a Jew?
